About the Bombay Orthopaedic Society
Over the years, fifty-five to be exact, Bombay Orthopaedic Society (BOS) has grown into an illustrious body, solely devoted to Orthopaedics and its sub-specialities. It is being run by its members who are dedicated to its cause with no personal gains.
The Silver Jubilee Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) which was held in Mumbai in 1980, was a feather in the cap of Mumbai orthopaedic surgeons. All strata of Orthopaedic Surgeons put in their hearts and hard work to make this conference a big success. Even today, after more than forty years, it is considered a gold standard for conference organization from the social, managerial and academic perspectives.
Bombay Orthopaedic Society (BOS) along with Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association (MOA) had organized the Golden Jubilee Conference of the IOA in Mumbai in the year 2005. The organisers had made it a memorable conference for all the attendees.
2015 was a landmark year for the Bombay Orthopaedic Society (BOS) as it celebrated its 50th year of existence and also conducted the Golden Jubilee ‘WIROC Grande’ 2015.
The Bombay Orthopaedic Society (BOS) now has the Privilege to conduct the 65th Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, IOACON 2020 in Mumbai in conjunction with its state chapter.
Why the new Journal?
There are two main reasons; to produce a body of literature that is clinically relevant and to make this knowledge freely accessible to all. Journals have shown trend to move towards a more rigid framework of scientific publications, meanwhile losing the focus that Journals are meant to directly influence and improve patient care. Charging for downloading articles imposes another limitation on dispersion and use of knowledge. Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics (JCOrth.) intends to counter these two issues by creating a journal that is intelligent, interactive, and clinically relevant and at the same time completely Open Access.
The Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics (JCOrth.) will be a biannual (2 issues per year) print and online journal. The online version will be an open access source. The journal publishes original articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, instructional lectures, case reports, technical notes and letters to the editor.
Aim & Scope of the Journal
Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics (JCOrth.) will publish research in the field of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery including aetiopathology, clinical and radiographic outcomes, surgical technique and implant design, biomechanics, biomaterials, and Congenital disorders.
